Greetings and welcome to the House Davion website!

If you are looking to join House Davion, please feel free to contact one of the members of the Davion High Command (DHC). The DHC consists of the First Prince, Alias52; his second-in command and House Quartermaster Duke and Marshal of the Armies, Eve.

One way to contact the DHC is through the Invasion3042.com forums. Once you have created a login for the forums, you will be able to send private messages to any member of the DHC.

Connecting to Chat/IRC

The fastest way to contact the DHC or any member of House Davion is by using IRC. Here’s how to get started:

1. Go to www.afternet.org and register a username and password.
2. Once you’ve done, search for and download any freeware IRC chat client (for
example: XChat or mIRC). Please note that most, if not all of these ‘free’ clients
have a limited free usage. After 30 days, you will have to pay to continue to
use it. ChatZilla is free to use if you use Firefox and there may be other clients
as well.
3. Once you have downloaded and installed your chosen client, you’re ready to
get into the main Invasion chat room. (Please note: the rest of the directions
will refer to XChat, which is the program I use. The steps should be similar in
other programs.)
4. In XChat, after starting the program, you are prompted to enter a nickname.
Try to keep it short; no spaces.
5. Next, there is a list of server to choose from. Pick the Afternet server.
6. After connecting to the server, the program will prompt you to connect to a
channel. Type in “invasion3042”. This will get you into the main Invasion chat
room.
7. Once you have connected into the main Invasion3042 chat, you will need to
authenticate your username. This will be the username and password you set
up at afternet.org. The command is as follows: /msg authserv auth
<username> <password>.
8. Now that you have authenticated your username, look on the right hand side of
the program; you’ll see a list of nicknames. These are the people logged into
the main Invasion chat room.
9. The DHC members are usually logged in using the following nicknames: Alias52
(First Prince), Eve (Marshal of the Armies) and FS|Duke (Second in Command
and House Quartermaster). Right click on any of these nicknames and select
Open Dialog Box. This opens a private discussion between you and that person.
If, for whatever reason, no member of the DHC is online at that time, look for
anyone with FS preceding their nicknames.

Once you speak to a member of the DHC in IRC, they will more than likely accept your application to join House Davion. At this point, you will need to request access the House Davion section in the Invasion forums. This can be done by clicking on the User Control Panel link, then the Usergroups link on the left hand side and select to join the House Davion Usergroup.

You will also be invited to join the IRC Davion only chat room. Once there, one of the channel operators will add you as a peon to the room. After that is complete, enter the following command to autojoin the Davion chat room upon login: /msg X3 uset #Davion_3042 autojoin.

Now that you’ve gotten yourself settled in IRC, you’ll want to register as a member of this website. Preferably, you will want to register when you’re in IRC so the registration can be approved and you can access the ‘Members Only’ sections of the website.

One of the first sections you’ll want to look at is under Information > Current available empire names. Here, you will find a list of all the Mech regiments used by the Federated Suns. In addition, you will also find the names of major Davion based industries. House Davion members are required to select a unit name from among the ones listed as available here. Front line and second line units usually pick from the available Mech regiments. Producers and researchers pick from the available industry names.

Unit Types

Now, I’ll bet that, at this point, you’re wondering about what I mean by front line and second line empires and producers and researchers. These four designations are used by House Davion, not only to define your role within the House, but also to give a direction in which to build up your empire.

Front-Line units - Front Line Units support large armies (100,000 battle value or more worth of Mechs) and are usually quite active. They make themselves available to pilot in raids and invasions. These units are geared mostly to support the large number of Mechs they own; most of their sectors are devoted to commercial buildings.

Second-line units - Second-Line units are used to defend the planets belonging to our researchers and new units. They will normally support anywhere from 50,000 bv up to 75,000 bv. Second line units sometimes also build up some production capacity in order to assist producers as needed.

Industries (Production) - Industries build all the repair parts and Mechs used by the rest of the House. They also develop trade relations with other factions and execute all trades with other empires with the approval of our House Quartermaster, Duke. Producer industries devote the majority of their sectors to production facilities and commercial buildings. Despite their role within the House, producers also maintain about 25,000 bv for their own defense.

Researchers - Researchers are quite important to the success of House Davion. It is through their efforts and careful planning and cooperation with the DHC that House Davion has been able to field more advanced equipment. Researchers devote nearly all their available space to research facilities. They own very few or no Mechs at all and so are dependent on second line empires for defense.

These are the basic things you’ll need to get started with House Davion. I just have a few general suggestions:

• When researching General Empire buildings, don’t bother with any of the Ultra
Basic buildings. Go straight for Basic buildings.
• Be aware that you don’t have to research items in order. As long as you can
get to that level, you can research anything in that level.
• Don’t bother researching Basic Administrative Centers, Starports, Stock Market
or anything aerospace related; they aren’t coded in yet.
• Lastly, don’t be afraid to ask questions or for help! Talk to the players in IRC;
they are there to help. And remember: your prosperity is our prosperity!
